2025 has been the biggest year yet for both Duracell Energy and Everything Electric. But before “net zero” was a common buzzword, and long before EVs outnumbered petrol cars on UK driveways, Robert Llewellyn was knee-deep in scrap metal.

Scrapheap Challenge first aired in 1998 and fast became beloved television; a celebration of chaotic British inventiveness where something new could be created from the old and forgotten. The show ran for 11 seasons, finishing in 2010.

In 2009, he pitched the idea for Fully Charged (or at least an early iteration of it) that was, in essence, “an EV car show that was the antithesis of Top Gear”* to the BBC. They sadly didn’t understand the concept, because the world of EV’s was still too new and too unknown. He didn’t give up there, though, and the Fully Charged show was born in 2010. A YouTube series created in his garage, fronted by a presenter with one simple mission: to explain the coming wave of electric vehicles and renewable energy with honesty and humour.

As the EV revolution gathered speed, so did Fully Charged. What began as a web series EVolved into a movement that combined education, entertainment, and increasingly, a rallying point for clean tech innovators. From EV’s to solar panels to energy storage, the brand (and Llewellyn) became trusted guides through a fast-changing technological landscape.

By 2018, the show had evolved beyond screens and streaming platforms as the team took their passion on the road, creating Fully Charged LIVE. The concept; a physical space for people to see, touch and test the technologies shaping the future. The events were, and still are, hosted across the UK and the rest of the world. They launched at Silverstone Circuit in June 2018.

By 2024 the YouTube channel, now known as Everything Electric, had amassed over 1 million subscribers and over 200 million views on its content. That same year, we launched Duracell Energy at Everything Electric South marking the start of a full partnership between the two brands. Llewellyn himself cut the ribbon at Duracell Energy’s flagship store in Cheltenham in July, demonstrating how the world of energy innovation and end-use applications had finally aligned.

The collaboration continued throughout 2024 and 2025, starting with when Fully Charged’s Imogen Bhogal visited Duracell Energy’s headquarters to film an in-depth feature, touring the facility, interviewing CEO Mark Millar, and exploring how Duracell Energy’s technology was helping households take better control of their power. Later that year, Llewellyn invited Millar onto his podcast to join him in a conversation that spanned from battery chemistry to the psychology of sustainability.

2025 has been the biggest year yet for both Duracell Energy and Everything Electric. We launched our first advertisement with the team, sharing our mission and our products with a much wider audience than we had before. Everything Electric has grown from a scrapyard spark into one of the UK’s most influential sustainability platforms. Puredrive Energy had transformed into Duracell Energy, a leader in renewable storage. Together, we are aligned in our missions to educate homeowners, encourage the energy revolution, and embrace the new technologies that are rapidly shaping our energy landscape.
